The Fourth of July

We had a great 4th of July here in Boise! Tuesday night we went to my parents house where we had movie night. They have a set up outside for us to watch movies. Since no one had to work Wednesday we all had a late night watching our movie. Then Wednesday we slept in and hung out. Later we went shopping. Eric owed me a new pair of Vans because we made a bet when we went bowling a couple weeks ago. He says that was the most expensive game of bowling he has ever paid for. haha
Here's the new shoes!

Then we went to my parents house for dinner/party. It was my dad's birthday so he opened presents, and we ate a yummy apple crisp!

Then we rode bikes down to a park where  they had fireworks that night. We rode along a greenbelt and totally lucked out on the way back because we waited for most people to leave and we didn't hit any traffic beacuse we weren't parked near the park. We had a great time, I got some cotton candy ( my favorite treat EVER) we people watched and get to enjoy the beautiful summer night. All in all it was a great day!!

Recent Happenings

Life is Boise is great! We are staying pretty busy. Eric is loving his new job and doing really well! A couple weeks ago he passed his LAST CPA exam!! Life is good. He has been studying for these tests since last summer and it has finally paid off! I am so proud of him. He is so happy to have that off his chest. As a present for passing we treated ourselves to this beauty!
We were excited to have a TV bigger than  20".

The house has come along way since we moved in and it is feeling like a home. We love it.

House Update!

Well Eric and I got the keys to the house on February 2nd. That night we started cleaning the place as much as we could. On Friday, Eric's parents and sister came and we started repainting the whole place, getting rid of the dog slobber was first on the list. Then we ripped out all of the carpet (which helped with the dog smell a lot). Everything was basically painted by the time family left on Saturday night. We got some of our things moved in but most of it was staying in the garage till we got carpet. For a week before we got carpet our bed was on the ground on top of broken down boxes. Eric said " It feels like we are camping. Wipe your feet before you get into bed!" haha we got a good laugh out of it. We have slowly worked through little projects here and there. Almost all of the boxes are unpacked and we are getting settled. We bought a couch and a sweet washer and dryer. (laundry has never been so fun) haha. Over the weekend was part two of the house project. We widened the cat walk upstairs.

As you can see there was a lot of wasted space so we extended both sides to make a loft.
On this side we added 6 feet.

And this side we added 3 feet.
I really shouldn't say we. Eric and his dad worked really hard! They got so much done in 24 hours!! Its a work in progress and there will be more pictures posted soon.

Also I finished my first furniture project and I have to say I am proud of my work! My parents gave us there old headboard and it is a little outdated so I wanted to spruce it up a bit.

Before...

After!

Also our new ward is awesome! We feel so welcome and can't wait to get to know more people! Needless to say life is going really well for the Story's!

More Updates to come!!

Boise Update

So I have been terrible about blogging so this one might be a long one.
Eric and I moved to Boise at the end of December. A week before we moved the house we were planning on buying fell through. We were SUPER bummed and  were kind of at a loss what to do now. We started to look at apartments in Boise which was such a bummer after thinking we would be living in a house soon. Then Eric's parents found another house and put an offer on it the very next day. It is a short sale house though so you never know how long those can take. We went to look at it, walked in the door and our jaws dropped. The owner of this home has a 205 pound mastiff who lives in the home. The walls were covered in big brown chunks of dried dog saliva. The banister was chewed and a lot of the carpet was ruined.

All I could think was OH MY GOODNESS! We have so much work ahead of us!! We are repainting the entire house replacing carpet and building a loft upstairs.
So a month later of living with my parents we are finally closing on the house and moving in this weekend! We get the keys on Wednesday and will be cleaning until Friday when Eric's parents get here to paint Friday and Saturday. We are so excited to finally be in our own place and get settled. We went and bought a washer and dryer on saturday and feel like such big kids! haha Once we are all settled I will post pictures of the clean walls and new carpet... and the rest of the place! Until then we are waiting till the weekend! WOOHOO!
